Your birth experience will stay with you for the rest of your life. A negative experience can lead to post-natal depression and affect your family relationships. We believe in going that extra mile to ensure that you have a positive birth experience and that is why our care is always tailored to your individual needs. | |

Appointments are made for a time and place that suits you so no long waits in impersonal clinics. There is no limit on appointment times and typically appointments last for over an hour. This enables you to ask all the questions you have and gives lots of opportunity to discuss your plans for your birth. In addition we are always available via telephone, email or text for help and advice. During appointments we will check on the health and well-being of you and your baby. We will arrange for routine blood tests and scans and if necessary we can arrange referral to other health care professionals. If you would like us to we can arrange to accompany you to any other appointments. Typically we will see you once a month during early pregnancy and more frequently as your pregnancy progresses but all packages are individually planned and visits can be as frequent as you need or want. Pregnancy is not just about labour! During this time we will help you to prepare for parenthood with expert advice on breastfeeding, newborn care, real nappies, transition to parenthood etc Over the years we have acquired a large range of resources (books, DVDs etc) about pregnancy, birth and parenthood. You are welcome to borrow any of these. |

Whatever the time, whatever the day we will be on call for you when you go into labour. Where you have your baby is your choice and we will support you in that decision. The majority of our clients choose to have their babies at home because they know that lots of research has shown that planned home birth is safe and has many advantages including fewer unnecessary medical interventions. Click here to read some of our home birth stories. Your midwife will come to your home when you choose. We carry all necessary equipment and can provide you with a pool if you choose to have a water birth. Afterwards we will stay for several hours to ensure that you and your baby are settled and we tidy up! If you choose or need to go to hospital we will stay with you as your birth advocate. Your clinical care will be provided by the hospital staff but we will be there to advise and support and we won't leave you when the shift changes! |
