Independent Midwives

Independent

Independent midwives are fully qualified midwives who have chosen to offer our care privately because we feel that not having the constraints of a big organisation allows us to provide a more individualised and holistic care.

Qualified

We have attained the same midwifery qualifications as our NHS colleagues We attend regular study days to ensure that we keep up to date on the latest advances in midwifery care.

Supervised

We are subject to the same levels of supervision, with a supervisor of midwives who regularly checks both our equipment and our competency.

Regulated

Like all midwives we are registered with, and regulated by, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) who have the power to remove our registration from us if our practice is deemed to be unsafe.

If you want more information on the registration of midwives or independent midwives go to the websites of the NMC or IMA (Independent Midwives Association) you can find links for both on our links page.
